Unexpected Surprise at the Doctors Appointment

So it was me who got the big surprise today when I went to my last baby doctor appointment before Elis birthday. Well for one I am still not dilated, which is fine, since technically Im still 10 days out, even though we're planning to have him here Tuesday. However, the surprise came when get this....the doc said that when you induce it doesnt always work. And then she proceeded to say, that if it doesnt work I could just go home, wait a few days and then come back and try again. umm...WHATTTTTTTTTT??? I dont know about you but thats not how I pictured this playing out. If I go in to have a baby...by all means Im leaving with a baby. So maybe I should go buy some Castro oil??? Who knows, guess me and Jesus need to spend some time talking about this lil hiccup!

Which by the way...when Eli hiccups it is the funniest little thing. I dont know how he can hiccup that quickly and still breath (well sorta breath/you know what I mean).

Brain Pick

Ok readers, I need some input. We only have 7 days to go and I still have no idea what I want our little man to call my parents. For Aarons parents we're going with Mamaw and Papa, but what about the my folks? I would love to hear what you have your lil peanuts call their grandparents, or maybe cute nicknames for grandma and grandpa that you've heard before! Please leave me suggestions.....

Week 38

According to "What to Expect" you are weighing in at 7 lbs this week Eli, but we know you already weighed more than that 2 weeks ago! You're one healthy little chunk!! This week you're shedding the tiny little hairs that have covered your body for a long time in preparation for your birthday! You are also producing more surfactant, which is helping to keep the air sacs in your lungs from sticking together as you prepare to start breathing. You continue to pack on the pounds this week and your brain and nervous system are preparing for all the stimuli you will experience out here in the world! In one week from today you will be laying in our arms, looking around at all the new sights, and even meeting your grandfolk! Its gonna be a big week next week lil one so rest up in there! We love you...see you soon!!

You + The Amazing Race

The Talk on CBS is my daily guilty pleasure. No matter what is going on I stop everything to watch the talk from 1-2 every day! They are some of the funniest ladies, and I love the topics that they discuss. Todays was particularly intriguing to me because it dealt with my other guilty pleasure...reality tv. The hosts posed the question...

Could you run the Amazing Race?

I must admit though I watch the show I could never be a part of it. For one I HATE to fly, so it just seems ridiculous to sign up for a show where you'll be on a plane every other day. Also, I must admit Im a lover of sleep, and going for days without it, even for a million dollars, is not something I am in for.

The second question they posed was....could you run the race with your spouse?

I would only run the race with my spouse because I cant imagine going overseas again without him, but I can definitely say that he would not run the race with me. He is the most competitive person I know, and willing to do anything from jump off tall buildings, to learning different languages that would benefit him along the race, I would simply hold him back from winning, and that would just plain not be good for our relationship. I think he would do much better with Rachel or Bojanell!

What about you could you run the race? Who would you take with you??

You might be prego if....

This is what you eat for lunch....barbecue chicken with ranch, Cheetos, yogurt, teddy grahams, and chocolate chip cookies!

Spring Time

Natalie, I know you dont like the spring, but I think its because you get to see flowers year round. For those of us who spend 9 months of the year staring at cacti, we look forward to spring so that we can finally see this....

Shower #3

Here are some of the onesies I've been promising to post! Arent my friends so creative? Now Im just waiting on my husband to design his!! The markers and white onesies are waiting....

If you want to do this, it is so incredibly easy. Simply pick up a variety of different onesies, wash them all in dreft, and then pick up some fabric markers and stencils!!

The last one is my favorite! Please note the mom tatoo on the sleeve!!

Cardboard Safari

Jillsy commented on my previous post with a new website to check out. Head over to cardboardsafari.com! They have everything from longhorns, to bowling balls and pins! Looks like great fun to me, especially with kids...I mean how can they hurt cardboard?

And Jill, I think this could go anywhere in your house. You're so stylish, that I think painted white, it would actually fit in just about anywhere, except for Joley's room, might be a bit muchfor the lil lady!! You should go for it!! I think the tree is my favorite, how cute and simple would this be for Christmas??? love love love!

Baby Shower #2

One of my absolute favorite parts of my shower was the onesies!! When I came in Shelby had little onesies, of all different sizes, hanging on clothes lines all over her house. Each one of us grabbed a onesie and decorated it any way we wanted. I must say some of the ladies at my shower were super creative!! It is such a great way to get one of a kind outfits for our little guy! I will soon post some of the finished products!

Week 37

Eli, you're officially a full term baby as of today, so we welcome you to come at any time!!! You are, however, still packing on 1/2 lb per week which is exactly why we have scheduled your due date. Most babies only weigh 6.5 lbs at this point but you are already well on your way to 8! Right now you're rehearsing for your big debut by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking your thumb, blinking and turning from side to side! I can still feel you moving a ton in there which is fun, but I am so ready to have you here with us. Your dad is looking forward to hearing your cute little laugh, but dont worry, with him as your dad you'll have plenty to laugh at!! haha 2 weeks and 2 days baby E!!!

Week 36

Baby boy, we got to see you playing around in there today, and you're just as adorable as ever. As we headed into the doctors appointment today your father and I put a couple of bets on what we would find out.

I guessed that you would still be laid out sideways and be about 5.5 lbs. I mean I know you're a big boy, but you still move around so much I figured you cant be THAT big.

Your dad guessed that you would be head down ready to go, and that you would be weighing in at about 6 lbs, just like the books said.

And the truth is that you're already weighing in at 7.1 lbs with four weeks to go. In fact your lil belly and head are the same size. How cute are you gonna be with your lil fat rolls?!?! But oh what am I going to do with all those newborn clothes that you'll NEVER fit into! hahaha

The good news though is that you are head down!! YEAH!!!! So we will be trying to do this labor thing without the surgery, but that all depends on how much weight you gain in the next 3 weeks. According to the doc you can still gain about 1/2 lbs a week so we've decided to induce by May 2nd if you havent already made your arrival!!

So baby E your due date is set, you will be here in exactly 3 weeks on May 3rd and me and your dad can hardly believe it. We've waited so long for you, and cannot believe its finally time. See you soon lil man!!

Remember When?

POGS???? It was all the range in the 90s, but apparently started back in the 20s and 30s when it was first played with actual bottle caps, instead of the cardboard pieces we always played with! The rules were simple:

1. Each player contributes an equal number of pogs to build a stack with the pieces facing down.

2. The players take turns throwing their "slammers" (heavy metal, rubber or plastic round pieces) down ontop of the stack making the pogs scatter. Each player gets to keep the pogs that turn face up during their turn.

3. After each round restack the pogs that were left face down from the previous round.

4. When all the pogs are turned over the one who has the most wins.

Oh the good ole days. I hope our son is as easily entertained as we were as children, heres to cheap toys made of cardboard and rubber providing hours of entertainment!!

Look what happened...

So I just got off the phone with my mom, we were discussing the guest list for my upcoming shower. There are a few friends I was debating on if to invite or not, simply for their comfort level. My mom assured me they were in the category of after E gets here send them one of those "Look what happened things". Yeah for most that would be a birth announcement but I guess hey maybe "Look what happened" is more appropriate a title!! So in 08 i got married...and well look what happened....stay tuned to see what happens next! haha

Being in the last month of my pregnancy, lets be honest, I dont do a whole lot...but I do manage to find lots of time to spend in the "BLOGosphere"!!! Decor Im obsessed with!!

Ok...love this trend, would you hang it on your wall? I have always wanted a moose head on my living room wall, but Im holding out till I live in the country. If you've ever been to my current house you know that it would not fit in here. Although I think I may be able to sneak in one of these stylish creatures and get away with it!! Especially in Baby E's room.

Also check out the ones over at...

Thou shall not Envy, or redecorate

Now dont get me wrong, I love my nursery, but it seems like now everywhere I look are the most adorable nursery ideas. So there will be no changes made to Baby E's room, but I am keeping track for the next one! This art is so simple, and yet so very cute!!!

SIlly Rabit, Easter's for Adults...

This may be our last year without kids, but that doesnt mean we have to miss out on celebrating Easter. Every year we host our own Easter celebration for just the 2 of us. In 2008 before we were married, I mailed Aaron a box of Easter eggs, one for every day till our wedding. In each one was a reason I loved him. Last year, we hid eggs in our back yard and had our own little Easter egg hunt, and bonus when you do this, you dont have to share the candy with the kids!! Anyway, so this Easter get creative with your friends and loved ones, and let me know if you've got any good ways to celebrate Easter as adults!!!

Extra Fabric??

If like most of us you have extra fabric laying around why not make your own bibs! A couple cuts, a few buttons, and someone with a lot more skill than me, and boom....you've got yourself a bib.

Baby E's Bedding

Baby E's Bedding arrived today and I could not be more excited. I have looked and looked for bedding, but came up with nothing that I loved under the 350+range, and well, I just cant justify that. Sooo...I recruited my beloved crafters to make me bedding that I LOVE. My mom and Kristi received a shipment of fabric I bought off the Internet, after hours of searching, and they had four jobs....bumper, bed skirt, pillows and curtains.
And they did better than I could have ever imagined. I think its time they quit their day jobs and start crafting full time!! Please note that the ties will look better but Im not the best at tying bows, and my belly keeps getting in the way, so we'll leave that for my mother in law to help me with when she gets here :)!! Also, for those of you protective moms, dont worry the pillows will not be in there when Baby E is sleeping, but right now they're too cute for words and keeping the crib nice and full as we wait on his arrival.

week 35

This is a pretty great picture showing what I really look like...one giant basketball!! One of my jr high girls told me this week "you cant tell you're pregnant from behind", how sweet of her :)!! But then she kept going...."until you start to walk, because you waddle". Well to that I say, you would waddle too if you suddenly had an extra 30 lbs out front that you had to swing around!!

Eli, you're moving non stop and I LOVE it, you're hilarious. Im not sure I have said thanks yet, but I really appreciate you moving your head so that Im not in pain all the time! Now all we need for you to do is keep rotating your head down. Right now you're laying flat out, with your head sticking straight out left and your lil butt to the right. According to the books you're as long as you're going to get, but at about 5.5 lbs you're still packing on the weight! Other than putting on your little fat rolls this week, your brain is also developing at an incredible pace. And being our child we know you're gonna have a lot of intelligence to pack in that little brain so its gonna be a busy week for you. We have another appointment on Tuesday, and then in 2 weeks we'll get to see you again on the ultrasound machine. Until then baby E we'll just be watching you move about like crazy, and keep preparing all the last minute details for your arrival!
